The University of Delhi (DU) has released the academic calendar for the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth semesters of the relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the academic year 2022-23. According to the calendar, the academic session for the fifth and seventh semester will start on July 20, while for the sixth and eighth semester, classes will start from January 2, 2023.
According to the official notice issued by DU on June 22, the break for the students of the fifth and seventh semester of the theory exams is from October 2 to 9. The theory exams will start on November 30th and the practical exams will start from November 16th. The winter break will take place from 17 to 31 December.
Meanwhile, classes for sixth and seventh semester students will begin next year from January 2, and the mid-semester break will take place from March 5-12. The preparatory leave and the practical exams will take place from 1 May according to the notification, after which the theory exams start from 11 May. The summer holidays are from May 27 to July 19, 2023.
Delhi University had reopened in-person classes on February 17 after being closed for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Offline classes for third-year students had resumed last year, but the university had to close again due to the peak in Covid cases in December.
Meanwhile, DU had previously asked the deans of faculties of various departments to submit the syllabus for the first and second semester of the Four Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUP) by June 10, reports PTI news agency. The varsity plans to complete the syllabus for the first two semesters of FYUP in July. It had previously approved the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2022 and FYUP of the 2022-23 academic session. The Executive Council (EC) of the varsity had adopted the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) draft in February this year. It is formulated according to the NEP for the academic session 2022-23.
