Internships offers a first-hand experience of what it’s like to work in the industry. While there are plenty of private internships, many government internships are offered to students every year. From RBI to NITI Aayog, if you want to kickstart your career and start with government internships, here is a list of job openings you can apply for:
Department of Justice
The Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Law and Social Justice has invited applications for an internship program for LLB students and graduates. Indian students who are in their second or third year of a 3-year degree or in their third to fifth year of a 5-year degree or have completed LLB can apply for the internship. Selection of interns will be on a first come, first served basis, subject to seat availability and approval from the competent authority. Interested candidates can apply at legalaffairs.gov.in.
Internship applications are open to content writer posts. Candidates who are in their final year of graduation with subjects such as English, communication, linguistics, international studies or related field can apply for the DigiLocker internship. Selected interns will be required to develop, write and deliver compelling copies for the websites, email marketing campaigns, sales materials, videos and blogs. They will also need to edit content produced by another member of the team. Interested candidates can register at digilocker.gov.in.
Undergraduate, postgraduate students or research scientists enrolled in recognized universities in India and abroad can apply for the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme. They will work closely with NITI’s verticals, divisions and cells. Applicants should apply online by completing the registration form at niti.gov.in/internship. The internship period is a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of six months.
Reserve Bank of India
The Reserve Bank of India offers 6 months research internships for PhD students from economics, banking, finance and related fields. It is for a minimum of 6 months and is held in two sessions each year – one in January and one in July. Interested candidates can email their CV, references and statement of purpose to [email protected] If nominated, candidates will be invited for a personal interview.
Ministry of Women and Child Development
The Ministry of Women’s and Child Development internship program is conducted for University of Groningen, PG and research students from various disciplines to understand the Ministry’s policies and programs. The internship is offered for a duration of 1 to 3 months. A total of 75 internships will be offered this year over a three-month period from April to June. Students can apply through the online link available on the website at wcd.nic.in.
