DPS Fee Hike Row: Parents of different students studying at different branches of Delhi Public School (DPS) held a protest on Tuesday outside the directorate of Education (DOE), about the “random” reimbursement rise and the expulsion of their departments.
According to the parents, DPS Dwarka would have driven 32 students earlier this month due to non-payment of increased costs.
'Lack of transparency'
Vivek Jain, parent of a DPS Rohini student, called on the authorities to intervene immediately. “We are willing to pay the reimbursement approved by the government, but not the increased amount that the school imposes without the correct explanation.”
He also insisted on the government to share the design of the proposed bill for school fees with parents. “We want to understand if it really protects the interests of parents and students,” he said.
Aswani Makul, whose child is also studying at DPS Rohini, said that they had even approached the Supreme Court with regard to the issue, but no concrete step was taken by the DOE.
“The school continues with the same practices. We need clear and decisive action from the authorities,” he said.
On May 15, the Education Directorate instructed the school to withdraw and leave the expulsion of the students.
The department also asked the school to ensure that no child is discriminated against in cost -related matters. A compliance report was requested within three days.
Sangeeta, a parent of a DPS Dwarka student, said: “We are ready to pay the compensation by the directorate, but the school only continues to increase it. There is a lack of transparency and parents are unfairly taxed.”
Azad Singh, a parent, emphasized the stress on children.
“Students are mentally harassed and threatened with expulsion over the unpaid reimbursements. This influences their well -being and violates their right to education. The authorities must intervene and act firmly,” he said.
No response from DPS Dwarka
There was no response from DPS Dwarka to the allegations.
A group of parents wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, with a list of eight requirements and the search for urgent government intervention.
In their letter, the parents insisted on the government to roll back not -approved reimbursement and take strict action against schools that force students.
With reference to the doctrine of Participative Board and the Pre-Legislative Consultation Policy (PLCP), 2014, the parents called for public disclosure of the transparency of Delhi School Education in Fixation and Regulation of Fees Bill, 2025.
They also insisted on the inclusion of a democratically chosen body of parents in the assignment process of legislation, the letter was.
It also mentioned an extensive audit of all without the help of private schools and the societies they run, which are performed by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and Forensic Experts, under the provisions of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSear), 1973.
Parents demanded that audit reports from the teams led by Subdivision Magistraat, as previously announced by the Minister of Education, would be made public, together with Action tasks reports.
