dr. Bimlesh Lochab Becomes Second Indian Female Scientist Elected Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry

dr. Bimlesh Lochab, a professor in the Department of Chemistry, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), UK, which identifies outstanding individuals in the chemical sciences for their significant contributions.

dr. Lohab is an alumnus of the University of Oxford and her research work focuses on green chemistry. She is an expert in both synthetic and materials chemistry. Her research work involves the synthesis, functionalization and combination of both nano- and polymeric materials using the principles of green chemistry. Her research on using sulfur for next-generation lithium-sulfur batteries as an alternative to the existing lithium-ion battery has been recognized and welcomed worldwide, the varsity said.

“It is a great honor to be invited as a Fellow by the Royal Society of Chemistry. I am delighted to be working with the world’s brightest minds in chemical sciences to meaningfully support the mission of the Royal Society of Chemistry,” said Dr Lochab.

A fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry is selected after multiple rounds and must have had a significant impact on their field in the chemical sciences. The distinction requires acceptance and adherence to an established set of high global standards for ethical and professional conduct. Each year, approximately 50 new fellows are selected from the global community of chemists.

“We congratulate Dr. Lohab with this great performance. It is one of the highest honors a chemical researcher can receive. Her outstanding work as a researcher in chemistry and as a lecturer reflects the caliber of teaching, research and dedication that the faculty of Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR is known for. dr. Lochab belongs to a select group of Indian women scientists who are an inspiration to students, especially female students in India, that there are no limits to what you can achieve and we are very proud of her,” said Vice Chancellor Dr Ananya Mukherjee , Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR.
