Maharashtra minister Deepak Kesarkar said on Saturday that every effort would be made to provide education in the state in Marathi and also to translate books into the language.
Speaking at a Zilla Parishad school in Kalher in the Bhiwandi area of Thane, Kesarkar said that children like to be educated in their mother tongue.
The state school education and the Marathi language minister also said that people should speak in their mother tongue.
“The state government will put emphasis on providing education in Marathi from now on. Books will also be translated into Marathi,” he said.
Kesarkar said that his department will try to solve all problems related to teachers, including filling vacancies.
