The government of Maharashtra has decided to adopt the curriculum of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from the Academic Year 2025-26. Minister of Foreign Affairs Dada Bhuse has announced that the CBSE curiculum will be implemented in all state schools from class 1 to class 12.
The transition will be carried out under the National Education Policy (Fake) 2020.
Bhuse said that the CBS pattern will be implemented in two phases in the state.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is currently taking exams for class X (SSC of Secondary School Certificate) and class XII (HSC or higher secondary certificate).
In the first phase, the CBSE pattern will be implemented in Standard 1. In the following year, teachers and educational officers will be trained for the CBS curriculum, he added.
Next year he added that the CBSE pattern will be assumed in the remaining standards in two phases.
The Minister of State Education also claimed that, although the CBSE pattern assumes, it will be ensured that the history, geography and marathi language of Maharashtra are part of the curriculum.
With reference to concern about the approval of the CBSE curriculum, NCP (SP) Working President and Baramati Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule wrote a letter to Buse and said it is very painful that the State will take over the CBS administration on SSC.
She also claimed that the government's step was harmful to the marathi language and culture.
She also said that parents should be given the option to choose between different boards that are available, including the SSC of the State, and concerned about whether the CBSE pattern can do justice to the history and language of the state.
During a statement in both houses of the state legislator on Monday, Bhuse said that the new curriculum will enter into force for Standard 1 from 2025 and covers all classes until 12th in 2028.
“In 2026, standards 2, 3, 4 and 6th will be treated, while 2027 will treat the standards 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th. In 2028, 8th, 10th and 12th will be covered,” he said.

BHUSE added that the work is producing class I according to the new curriculum, and Balbharti has been entrusted with the task of making necessary changes to the curriculum of state education.
“The new curriculum will focus on continuous and extensive evaluation, not only end of exams. It will help students develop soft skills and will help spread quality education. The CBS curiculum will help students better prepare for competitive exams,” he said.
The minister also said that the new study books by Balbharati, which focus on technology, will give students practical knowledge.
