Schools are again closing due to increasing Covid-19 cases in several states. From schools to colleges to coaching centers, teachers and students are resorting to online classes to complete syllabus before the end of another academic year. Most states are unsure about when schools should reopen, while some schools and colleges have closed for a period of time. From Delhi to West Bengal to Kerala, here is the latest status of schools and colleges amid a spate of Omicron cases.
Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has decided to close schools in the state to all classes due to a spike in Covid-19 cases. The online classes continue. The MPBSE is scheduled to start with the exams for class 10, 12 from February 12 and the pre-boards from January 20. The board has now moved the pre-board exams to online mode, which means that students must attempt the exams from their respective homes.
bihar: The state government has closed all schools, colleges, coaching centers and hostels until January 21. In the meantime, classes will continue online.

Maharashtra: Schools will be closed in Mumbai for grades 1 to 9 and 11 until January 31. Schools will remain closed in Pune for grades 1 to 8 and will continue until January 30. Schools in Nashik and Aurangabad are closed. However, 10th and 12th grade students in Mumbai and Pune are allowed to take offline classes.
Delhi: The national capital has closed all schools and universities. The Directorate of Education (DoE) said online classes will continue. Exams and related activities such as labs, projects and assignments for grades 9 to 12 would be conducted on schedule.
Uttar Pradesh: The UP government has closed schools and colleges in the state until January 23. Previously, the government had ordered the closure of educational institutions until January 16, but this has been extended to January 23 due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh. the state.
Tamil Nadu: Schools in the state are closed to grades 1 through 8 until Jan. 10, but grades 9 through 12 remain open with stricter guidelines.
West Bengal: Physical classes have been closed to both elementary and middle schools in the state and shifted to online mode. Hostels have also been ordered to close. If a student is unable to leave the campus, he/she must be provided with all necessary medical facilities and midday meals at the hostel itself, according to the official notice.

Kerala: The state government has decided to close physical classes for students up to grade 9 due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. The decision was taken after a high-level meeting. The offline classes have been suspended for two weeks from January 21. Until then, only vaccinated students from grades 10 to 12 are allowed to take on-campus classes. The decision whether schools will reopen for unvaccinated students will be taken after an evaluation meeting in the second week of February.
Odisha: The state government has closed schools until February 1. Previously, physical classes were open for students aged 6 to 10. However, Classes 10 and 12 are only open for Doubt Clearing sessions.
