The exam season has arrived and with it cheats have also fallen. In this academic year, there have been many cases of fraud not only in board exams, but also in university entrance exams and recruitment exams. Here is a list of some instances of exam fraud in the past academic year.
UP boards cheat case
Last on the list is the Class 12 English Paper Cheat Case in Uttar Pradesh Board Exam. Wednesday’s exam was canceled in 24 counties of the state after one of the two sets of the questionnaire was leaked. According to the reports, 17 people have been arrested in the case, including the school’s district inspector (Ballia) Brijesh Mishra and a teacher from a government school identified as Ajit Ojha.
Haryana Class 10 Cheating Case
In another recent case, relatives of the exam candidates used Bluetooth devices and paper chips to help the candidate cheat on the exam. The Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) exam for class 10 started on Thursday. More than 3.64 lakh students appeared in the social science exam at 1,457 exam centers in the state. According to the media report, friends and relatives of many students were found throwing cheat sheets with answers at the exam center by climbing the school boundary walls in many places across the state. In some places, relatives were found helping their children by using Bluetooth devices, the Hindustan Times reported.
Leakage of math paper
Second on the list is the Bihar class 10 math paper leak. The board had to cancel the 2022 class 10 math exam, which was scheduled for February 17. The leak came out after many of the students claimed the question paper had been circulated on social media before the paper was launched in 25 exam centers. It was later performed on March 24 from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm. This has caused a major delay in the declaration of BSEB matrix results 2022.
CBSE Term 1 exam cheating
This year, CBSE’s term 1 board exams are said to have been marred by malpractice. A CBSE Schools Management Association (CSMA) claims that many schools have shared the exam questionnaire with students. Because students from their own school were asked to appear for the exam, the CSMA claimed that many teachers helped students with answers. In a letter to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), an association in Tamil Nadu, CSMA said that teachers give students the answer keys apart from leaking questions through Local Area Network and WhatsApp. The letter also requests the board to cancel the CBSE exam for term 1.
Police Recruitment Exam
The exam malpractice is not just limited to high school students, this year there were reports of alleged question paper malpractice during the Mumbai police recruitment exam. The recruitment campaign for 1076 police officers for the Mumbai Police began in November. More than 1.09 candidates appeared for the written test of their top 10,760 candidates were called up for the ground test. According to the reports, several dummy candidates had appeared during the exam. The police have so far charged two people with malpractice during the police recruitment exam. One of the defendants acted as a sham candidate on behalf of the other defendant while appearing for the written exam, police said, Free Press Journal reported.
Gujarat Forest Guard Recruitment Cheating Exam
The reports for the exam paper leak came in the State Forestry Survey conducted last Sunday by Gujarat University on behalf of the Ministry of State Forestry. The police have so far arrested eight people, including three examiners.
MPTET Paper Leak
Last month, another paper leak made headlines after reports emerged from the alleged paper leak in the Madhya Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (MPTET) on March 25. The claim was made by a candidate, who claimed that the exam paper was already available on some people’s phones even before the exam. At this time, there has been no response from the government, the Education Department or the Vocational Examination Board to the person’s claim. It has also been claimed that students who scored low grades were shortlisted regardless of merit.
