Tilak Varma of Mumbai Indians has emerged as the highest runner among Indian players with no limit in IPL 2022. Entering his first season of the tournament, the 19-year-old scored 368 runs in 12 innings for an impressive 40.89 average. Varma has scored two half-centuries in a season that has been nothing short of a nightmare for his team.
Elon Musk puts Twitter takeover on hold
Billionaire Elon Musk has put his $44 billion deal to buy social media giant Twitter on hold. Musk made the announcement via a tweet, saying the deal was suspended due to pending details to support the company’s claim that spam/fake accounts represent less than 5 percent of total users. Musk’s announcement was followed by the thread of Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal, in which he commented on the leadership change at the company and hoped the deal with Musk would go through.
COVID-19 cases in India
India’s one-week average of new COVID-19 cases fell by a weekly average of 2,910 in the outgoing week, compared to 3,180 in early May. On Saturday, May 14, India registered 2,858 new COVID-19 infections with 3,355 recovery and 11 deaths. Delhi reported 899 new COVID-19, the highest in the country on May 14.
India qualifies for Thomas Cup final
The Indian men’s team took a remarkable 3-2 victory over Denmark in Friday’s semi-final to advance to the Thomas Cup final for the first time. In the final of the badminton tournament, the Indian men’s team will face Indonesia on Sunday at the Impact Arena, in Bangkok, Thailand.
