Budget 2023: Capex increased, budget deficit target lowered
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the 2023 Union budget on February 1. She said that this budget, based on the development of a knowledge-driven, technology-driven economy with sound public finances and a strong financial sector, is a step towards Amrit Kaal. Capital spending has been given a boost and the target of reducing the budget deficit to 5.9 percent has also been set.
Education budget gets highest allocation ever in budget 2023
The center has allocated Rs 1,12,898.97 crore for the education sector for the coming financial year. This is the highest allocation to the Ministry of Education in India’s history.

The number of active Covid cases in India rises to 1,792 with new cases
On Saturday, February 4, India registered 128 new cases of Covid, bringing the number of active cases to 1,792. With four deaths reported from Kerala, the total death toll has risen to 5,30,745. According to the Union Ministry of Health, the daily positivity rate has been recorded at 0.09 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.07 percent.
Kerala Budget 2023: State Pumps Rs 2,000 Crore To Tackle Price Rise
State finance minister KN Balagopal presented the budget for fiscal year 2023 on Feb. 3. He said Rs 100 crore would be earmarked for welfare development programs while Rs 2,000 crore will be allocated for tackling the price hike. He announced that Rs 80 crore would be earmarked for alleviating extreme poverty.
Shubman Gills breaks into the top 10 ODI batters ahead of Virat Kohli
A sensational ODI series against New Zealand helped Indian lead-off batsman Shubman Gill climb 20 places in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Rankings. The Punjab-born batter reached a career-best of sixth spot in the rankings. In addition, Gill is currently the top Indian batsman in the ODI standings. Gill’s incredible rise in the rankings came after the 23-year-old put on a remarkable showing against New Zealand in a three-match ODI series last month. Gill, with 360 runs under his belt, emerged as the series’ highest run scorer. He also tied Pakistan skipper Babar Azam’s record for most runs scored in an ODI series consisting of three matches or fewer.
