Aspirants of Railway NTPC and Group D Recruitment Exam have advised the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) officials to make changes to the exam and adopt the policy of conducting a centralized examination i.e. only a single examination . Having a centralized structure will reduce the chances of protests and unrest among candidates.
Candidates argued that the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) examines all banks in a centralized manner and also releases its results centrally. According to the vacancies at different banks, a merit list is prepared. The seats are filled by spending by category by merit. It happens regularly. IBPS also releases the waiting list. Accordingly, the candidates are recruited. They have a fixed annual calendar and every year IBPS releases the position for clerk and probation officer.
Currently, each RRB board issues its separate cut-off, making the cut-off very high. Even students who scored well don’t get the seat, alleged candidates. Apart from this, because each board has a different set of seats, more students usually apply for the board in which the seats are maximum, causing uneven applications for different boards. Also, RRB does not issue a specific calendar which is a major concern of the candidates. As one of the largest boards in the country, RRB still takes three to four years to fill a single-session vacancy.
Amid the mounting protests regarding NTPC CBT 2, RRB has formed a high-level committee to clear the students’ doubts regarding the Patna NTPC undergraduate level and Group D exams. More than 1 lakh grievances were put forward by the RRB NTPC committee till February 1.
The committee visits various locations and listens to the students’ grievances. Candidates also asked the committee to accept the new applications for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate as they encountered difficulties in creating EWS certificates while applying. The commission visits various districts of Bihar and answers their questions.
Now it will be interesting to see the final report of the commission. If RRB takes into account the problems of students and reforms its existing policies, we could witness a huge change in the structure of the railway exam.
