The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), through its Committee for Development of International Trade, Services & WTO, offers online foreign language beginners courses in Spanish, German, Japanese, Business English and French to its members and students. It will be offered through the respective Language and Cultural Centers of Foreign Embassies in India.
The step has been taken so that its students and members can have accounting jobs abroad and knowing a foreign language would help with that. “The accounting professionals play a pivotal role in advising companies every step of the way. With an exceptional pace and scale of innovation in the world for executing various financial and non-financial transactions, CA professionals in the modern age are judged on a specific characteristic, which is “adaptability to change”. More and more Indian companies and accounting professionals are embracing a truly global business model as it lays the foundation for long-term success in the era of globalization,” ICAI said.

CA (Dr) Debashis Mitra, President of ICAI, said that by acquiring language skills, CA members and students gain technical expertise that can add value to their language skills in the respective local area of operation and help better serve the foreign customers .
CA Dheeraj Kumar Khandelwal, chairman of the Committee for the Development of International Trade, Services and WTO, said these language programs are a gateway for members and students to other countries. Learning a foreign language is all about learning how to really communicate and connect with others – an incredibly important life skill that can only be cultivated by interacting with people.

CA Rohit Ruwatia, vice chair of the committee, said these courses will benefit accounting professionals to perform their functions globally by forming meaningful relationships that help them be more flexible and adaptable in the global world.
