The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has partnered with the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) to conduct an experiential learning scholarship for more than 3300 students of the Skill University. It was hosted in IIT Delhi in July this year as part of an academic collaboration between the two institutions.
Students of various engineering and non-engineering degrees from DSEU participated in the expo. This includes students of mechanical, automotive, computer and electrical, in addition to non-technical diploma programs such as architecture, etc., as well as degree programs such as BSc data analysis, BTech mechatronics, BTech electronics and communication, MTech tool engineering, etc., from 12 DSEU campuses visited IIT Delhi and interacted with the teachers and students.

During the three-week academic visits organized from 4 to 25 July, the DSEU students explored and experienced hands-on learning in the fields of assembly, machining, sheet metal work, welding, etc. in the central workshop of IIT Delhi. Other parts of this collaboration included visits to IC Engine Lab, Electromechanics Lab, Polymer Chemistry Lab, Polymer Processing Lab, Concrete Structure & Technology Lab, Data Analytics Lab and Basic Electrical Lab.
“We were divided into groups of four and had to alternate between visiting mechanical labs. Upon entry, each workshop was given a brief description of the process and the basic tools used. Later, we all practiced the experiments that were explained and a viva was also administered at the end, which helped us summarize our lessons for the day,” said Siddhi Jain, a BTech mechanical engineering student, sharing her experience.
“DSEU works with the aim of adding value to the students and teachers through experiential learning and intensive hands-on experience. This academic partnership with IIT Delhi is one such initiative. We are excited to hear about our students’ experiences and hope they make the most of such opportunities,” said Prof (Dr.) Neharika Vohra, Vice Chancellor, DSEU.
“We are excited to expand our laboratory and research facilities to enhance the learning experience for DSEU students. Our partnership with DSEU helps us increase our impact in the NCR region,” said Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi.
“Our Sustainable Development Goals talk about smart resource planning and collaborations between academic institutions. We are delighted to take a step forward in this direction and would like to thank IIT Delhi for this collaboration,” added Prof. Go for it.
