The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras BS Program in Data Science and Applications has invited applications for its January 2023 batch. Interested candidates can apply for this program through the website – onlinedegree.iitm.ac.in. The registration deadline is January 16.
Students from all over the world can apply for the online course, but they must have studied Mathematics and English in Class 10. Students in Class 12 can try the qualification and have an admission letter from IITM while at school. All exams are taken in person. The program also allows students of all ages to apply, from a variety of fields such as arts, science, commerce, economics, medicine, law, and engineering.

Furthermore, the program has its own qualification process, which consists of four weeks of learning in four core subjects taught and tested by IIT Madras. Those who achieve a minimum of passing grades greater than 50 are admitted to the program. There is no limit on the number of places, therefore all eligible persons can study in the programme.
The program starts with the basic level, which teaches the basics for courses in programming and data science, said IIT Madras. It is followed by diploma level courses. The degree in programming includes courses on data structures and algorithms, Java programming, web application development (frontend and backend), database administration, introduction to Linux programming, and two full-stack development projects.
The courses in diploma in data science teach students about the basics of machine learning and expose students to the business side of data collection, organization, cleaning, analysis, and inference, with a specific course on data visualization. In addition, two projects on the business side and ML implementation help demonstrate student learning.
Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said of this programme, “This BS in Data Science is the first step towards opening IIT Madras to the learners across the country in an inclusive manner. Hands-on training in each individual course, building a strong foundation in learners, exposing learners to cutting-edge technology and topics, and rigorous assessment methods make this an employment-focused program in an area forecast to create 11.2 million jobs. is in the next 10 years.”
