New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has appointed eminent Indian-American physician Nimisha Shukla to the State Board of Medical Examiners, a press release said on Thursday. This is the first time an Indian-American physician will serve on the NJ Medical Board of Examiners under the Murphy administration.
The New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners is responsible for protecting the health, safety and well-being of the public. In addition to the doctors, the Council is responsible for supervising a number of paramedical care providers. dr. Shukla owns and operates pediatric practices in multiple locations in New Jersey.
She was chief resident of the SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. She also taught medical students at Michigan State University. She served on the Federal Communication Commission’s advisory committee on diversity and digital empowerment, and also became the first Indian-American female broadcaster as a result of her acquisition of a radio station in the Metropolitan New York area.
