A fourth-year engineering student from Jadavpur University in West Bengal has been offered a job offer of Rs 1.8 crore from Facebook. Bisakh Mondal, who is an engineering graduate with a specialization in computer science, also received job openings from Google and Amazon, but chose Facebook over them because of the higher pay package. He will fly to London in September to join the social media company, a leading daily newspaper reported.
At least eight other Jadavpur University students have received vacancies this year with a salary package of more than Rs 1 crore. Biksakh’s Rs 1.8 crore offer is the highest so far. A native of the Birbhum district of West Bengal, Bisakh comes from a humble background. He is from a lower middle class and his mother works as an Anganwadi labourer.

Bisakh has credited his internship experiences for helping crack the job interviews. He said that for the past two years, during the Covid-19 pandemic, he has worked as an intern at various organizations to gain knowledge beyond his curriculum.
Speaking of his son’s achievement, Bisakh’s mother said the family had gone to great lengths to see him reach greater heights. Bisakh was always serious in his studies and after getting good grades in the upper secondary exam and joint engineering entrance exam, he was admitted to Jadavpur University, his mother said.
