The Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice has launched an internship program for law students and graduates. Interested candidates can apply for these internships on the official portal – legalaffairs.gov.in/internship.
These internship opportunities are particularly available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai. These stages, according to the official announcement, will provisionally start from June this year and will end in May next year. Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju announced the internship program on 1 June.
He tweeted: “A great opportunity to work in the Department of Legal Affairs as it introduces internships for law students for offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai. I recommend young talent to apply for this internship on legalaffairs. gov.in/internship.”

Internship at the Legal Affairs department: Selection process
The official notice stated that the selection of interns will be on a first come, first served basis, but the availability of a place and approval from the competent authority will play a role. read, further stating that it will be a full-time internship that students must physically attend. The trainees are not expected to follow any other training/work during the duration of the internship.
Internship at the Legal Affairs department: eligibility criteria
Indian students who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of a three-year degree or in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year of their five-year degree from an accredited college/law school/university can apply for these internships. This internship is also open to candidates who have completed their LLB course at an accredited college, law faculty or university.
Internship at the Legal Affairs department: how to apply?
Step 1. The students who wish to enroll in the internship program of the Legal Affairs Department should first complete their application via https://legalaffairs.gov.in/internship/form.php
Step 2. Submit your relevant documents, including a statement of no objection from their respective college/university.
According to the official notice, the maximum number of interns allowed in a month is 10-30. Interested candidates can apply for these internships on the official portal – legalaffairs.gov.in/internship.
