Unlike classes 10 and 12, the evaluation of papers for the annual examinations of classes 9 and 11 will take place at the school and college levels respectively.
From the academic year 2023-2024, the Government of Karnataka has granted permission to conduct Summative Assessment 2 for students in Class 9 and Annual Examinations for students in Class 11. The Karnataka Board is also currently conducting Annual Examinations for students in Class 10 and 12. as assessment tests for students in grades 5 and 8.
This step attempts to help students become better learners by consistently tracking their learning curves at all levels. The school education department has also addressed students’ concerns that they could be sent to detention if they fail a test.
The Karnataka State Quality Assessment and Accreditation Council (KSQAAC), in accordance with the notification, will publish the question papers for the Class 9 Summative Assessment-2. The relevant Deputy Director of the School Education Department will compile it at the state level and make it accessible to concerned field education officials.
The question papers for class 9 will be sent by email to the relevant secure online account of the Block Education Officer (BEO) when the board completes its preparation at the state level. Questions for class 11 will be sent to the designated Deputy Director of Pre-University (DDPU). The PU Examination Department of the Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board will prepare the question papers for the Class 11 annual examination at the state level.
Unlike classes 10 and 12, the evaluation of papers for the annual examinations of classes 9 and 11 will take place at the school and college levels respectively. Finally, the Head Masters and Principals will post the students’ test results on the “Students Achievement Tracking System (SATS)” portal.
The notification further adds that a supplementary examination will be conducted at the relevant university/college level if the student fails the annual Class 11 examination.
The annual examinations of Class 5 and 8 were conducted by KSEAB for the first time last year.
The Karnataka board said earlier this month that it will conduct three annual exams. The state stated that the supplementary SSLC and PUC exams will be cancelled. Instead, students will now take three exams annually, with the highest grades from all three exams counting towards retention.
