Authorities of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College have asked students, parents and local guardian to duly sign the agreement for confirmed admission
A Calcutta university has asked students to sign a bizarre pledge that has now gone viral. Authorities at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College have banned students from wearing “torn jeans” and “immodest dresses” in college. For confirmed admission into Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College, students are required to sign an affidavit and duly upload it.
Parents or local guardian of the admission seeker must also sign this Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College affidavit. The Kolkata College affidavit read as follows: “Now that I have been admitted into Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College, I will never enter the college building in ripped/artificially ripped jeans or any kind of immodest dresses. I hereby confirm that I will wear normal civilian clothing throughout the university building during my study period.”

Furthermore, the authorities of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College are asking that students should wear ‘normal civilian dresses’. The Principal of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College Purna Chandra Maity told News18: “Discipline is paramount at my university. Students don’t come here to do fashion. Parents are very happy with this decision of the university, they have said what they could not do, the university has done for them.” It was further reported that the director stated that torn clothing does not match the decorum of an educational institution, therefore students should follow the rules of the college and know how to dress appropriately for a formal institution.

It is also reported that the authorities of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College issued a similar order last year to ban students from wearing indecent and torn clothes. Despite the clues, students from Kolkata were seen wearing such clothes. Last year, university authorities did not allow students to enter the premises, prompting protests from university students. Since the students did not follow the orders, the university authorities, aiming to make a strong impact, asked freshmen to duly sign the affidavit.
