The final year law students of the University of Mumbai had a chaotic start during their exams. The chaos occurred after more than 1,200 students for the exams were not given tickets to the hall with their photos or signatures from school principals.
Instead, the students were issued provisional entry cards based on their permanent registration number (PRN) and ID at the last minute Hindustan Times. This caused a lot of chaos in the seating arrangement at exam centers.
A law school principal said the university was changing the number of students who had to appear for the exam until late the night before the exam. “On Tuesday morning, students who had not been given admission tickets came to the college, and we had to make arrangements for them to appear for the exam at the same time,” the director said in the report.
Due to technical difficulties, the colleges were unable to upload students’ academic data on the university’s portal. The university portal is maintained by Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL).
Senior Senate member Supriya Karande said on this issue that the chaos in the administration of the Law Department of the University of Mumbai has been going on for the past few months. “This affects both colleges and students. The university should pay close attention to this and transfer the head of this department to avoid losing students,” Karande said.
“There was no seat number or exam center printed on it. Headmasters were concerned about where exactly the students coming to the centers should sit,” said Sachin Pawar, a law graduate and member of Yuva Sena (BSS).
However, the varsity claimed that the exams went smoothly
The centralized research process resumed at the University of Mumbai after the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from the chaotic start, the exam also encountered a host of other administrative issues, including technical glitches in the registration process.
