Lucknow University (LU) has banned all celebrations in the canteens, a day after two groups of students clashed in the commercial canteen during a birthday party. The prosecutor’s office issued guidelines to ban all types of celebrations and issued mandatory guidelines for all canteen owners to ensure that public order was maintained.
“It has come to light that during parties in canteens, students get into fights or arguments that disrupt campus discipline. It has been decided that the owners will ensure that no parties take place in the canteen. If students insist or force, the canteen owner must inform the proctor’s office’, says head proctor prof.dr. Rakesh Dwivedi.
He also said that every canteen owner has been asked to ensure that CCTV cameras are installed and that students are not allowed to park their two or four-wheelers outside the canteen.
“It is also the responsibility of the people who run the canteen that no outsider/non-LU student is allowed to use the facility,” he added. It may be remembered that two groups had clashed during a birthday party in the trade canteen on Wednesday.
