The degree equivalence is only valid for the graduate qualification approved by the authorities.
The decision is expected to fill more than 10,000 vacancies in various state committees.
The UP Government has made an important decision regarding the recruitment of graduate level candidates. The government has established equivalence for recruitment at the graduate level. Under the order, the graduate courses or engineering programs of central or state-established or deemed universities are considered equivalent to graduation. The courses approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) are also equivalent to graduation.
With this decision, more than 10,000 vacancies in various committees will be filled. Out of these, the recruitment for 6900 posts will be done by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. In this regard, a mandate has been issued by Extra Chief Secretary Personnel Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi.
On September 21, 2021, the Supreme Court ordered to decide on graduate equivalence while issuing an order in Vikas and 80 Others vs State case. The definition of degree programs equivalent to graduation has been given on the basis of this decree. The mandate states that the degrees awarded in various professional courses and technical courses recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development are considered equivalent to graduation. AICTE’s degree will also be considered at this level. In the event of uncertainty, the information will be provided by the committee of the relevant institute.
It should be noted that the degree equivalence is only valid for the graduate qualification and the equivalent given in the eligibility criteria given by the Uttar Pradesh State Public Service Commission, Subordinate Services Commission and other recruitment agencies. The mandate also states that, in the event that a technical position in a department’s service rules requires a specific qualification rather than a general qualification, the equivalent qualification will be determined by the department itself.
