The board of Uttar Pradesh has decided to introduce the National Cadet Corps (NCC) as an elective for students in grades 10 and 12. According to reports, NCC will have a separate questionnaire in the board exam for the academic year 2022-2023. But let’s see what are the advantages of this newly introduced topic.
Now when students choose NCC as their elective, the numbers are added to the grade sheet. Those in grade 10 can choose NCC with Science, Math, Hindi, English and Social Science. While Class 12 Science and Business students cannot take NCC as their elective, Class 12 Arts/Humanities students are given this opportunity. Students who follow NCC in an additional subject are given training under the supervision of the NCC management. Remarkably, when the training is completed, they get a certificate.
Advantages of choosing NCC?
Those who will choose NCC as their subject will have an edge in several recruitments. The candidates are given preference in the central government and state job recruitment, including the military. Candidates should note that after completing their elective, they are required to obtain a certificate, after which candidates with NCC certificates will be given preference in jobs.
The NCC aims to develop character, discipline, camaraderie, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among the young generation. In addition, the goal is to make the youth organized, trained and motivated with leadership skills from all walks of life, who will serve the nation no matter what career they choose.
Last year, on February 9, the board of directors of Uttar Pradesh had sent a proposal to the state government to include NCC as an elective in grades 9 and 11. The government later issued orders in favor of the proposal.
