The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate exam 2022 is expected to be held on July 17 this year. The entrance examination is conducted for admission to various medical colleges across India. NEET 2022 aspirants have demanded that the exam be postponed. Many have asked for more time to prepare for the exam on social media, using the hashtag #JUSTICEforNEETUG.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the medical entrance exam, also shared that it has obtained representation from students demanding a postponement of the exam. In response to an RTI inquiry, it added that no changes have been made to the NEET UG 2022 date so far, according to a leading daily newspaper.
Many students urged the NTA to postpone the exams for at least 40 days so that they can properly prepare. “Please postpone NEET UG 2022. It is a problem of our life, our future, our career, our dream. Don’t lose our year for just 40 days, we want just 40 days,” one user wrote on Twitter using the #JUSTICEforNEETUG hashtag.

“Delaying NEET UG for 50 days will not interrupt the current session OR the upcoming session as it will not start before February 2023. Droppers need a fair chance,” read another comment on Twitter.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, India Wide Parents Association stressed that state counseling for NEET-UG has recently ended and board exams are still being conducted, leaving students with no time to prepare. The agency further wrote that the new session will begin in February 2023 so that a delay in the exam would not disrupt the academic year.

Last year the NEET took place on September 12. Because of this, students say they have less than 10 months to prepare for NEET 2022. Some students have claimed that they have to appear for other exams during this time and therefore they face difficulty in preparing for NEET-UG 2022 One user emphasized that the NEET syllabus is huge and the time remaining is not enough to go through it thoroughly.
