NEET UG Admission 2024: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on Thursday said that the competent authority, in view of representations from various stakeholders, has decided to reopen the choice lock for the NEET UG Round-I Counselling 2024 on August 22 till 11:59 pm. The choice lock will start at 8:00 pm on August 22, 2024.
“In respect of the proposals received from ESIC/OCI candidates/State Counselling Authorities, it is to be informed that the competent authority has decided to reopen the selection exercise for Round I of UG Counselling 2024 from 04:00 PM on 22-08-2024 to 11:59 PM on 22-08-2024. The selection lock will start from 08:00 PM on 22-08-2024,” the notification read.
Candidates who wish to change their choices can log into their account and activate their choices after unlocking them.
It is important to mention that the MCC would conclude the seat allotment process for the first round of counselling for NEET UG 2024 today, August 22. The results of the seat allotment process were expected to be announced on Friday, August 23.
As per the notification, candidates who have been allocated places are required to report/join the respective colleges from 24 to 29 August 2024. The verification of candidates who join after the first allocation is scheduled from 30 to 31 August 2024.
Earlier, candidates who had cleared the NEET UG entrance examination 2024 had time to register for the counselling process for MBBS, BDS and BSc (Nursing) courses till August 20, 2024.
The registration process for round 2 will be held from 4-5 September 2024. The seat allotment and verification process will be held from 11-12 September 2024. The results of the second round of counselling process will be announced on 13 September 2024. Candidates who are allotted the seats are requested to report/apply before 14-20 September 2024.

Counselling is underway for allotment of around 1.10 lakh MBBS seats in around 710 medical colleges across the country. Counselling is also being held for 1,000 BDS seats besides Ayush and nursing seats.
