Elaborating on what he claims is pro-Punjab decisions, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday ordered schools in the state against imposing an increase in school admission or tuition fees. The decision will be made just before the start of the next school year. It will provide aid to hundreds of thousands of children and their parents in the state.
The CM has also ruled that no school can force parents to buy books, stationery and uniform from a particular store. The move is aimed at breaking the monopoly in the ‘education sector’, which often resulted in these companies dictating the prices of the products and forcing parents to abide by it.

The CM said all private schools should ensure that all stores carry their school’s books, stationery and uniforms so that parents can choose where to buy them.
Mann said in a video message that education was like a third eye, broadening an individual’s perspective. “But it saddens me that education is beyond the reach of the common man. People want to provide basic education to their children, but the high costs are a barrier,” he said.
This is part of a series of people-friendly decisions taken by the newly elected government of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. Since taking office on March 16, Mann has launched an anti-corruption hotline, announced the decision to regularize jobs for 35,000 contract workers, announced door-to-door rations, and also cut multiple pensions being given to lawmakers.
