With the COVID situation improving in the state, the government of Odisha has decided to reopen schools, colleges and other educational institutions from next week. Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra has announced that physical classes in schools for students in grades 8 and above will resume from February 7.
The national government has issued guidelines regarding the reopening of schools. Students studying in grade 7 through Kindergarten will be allowed to take physical classes from February 14. Those who physically attend school will have to strictly follow covid standards.

“The decision to reopen schools, colleges and other educational institutions has been made in light of increased student interest. For the current academic year, students can choose whether to attend classes online or offline or in hybrid mode. The class promotion of students from KG to class 9 will be done on the basis of class grades. Exams for Class X and XII will be conducted according to the guidelines of their respective councils and councils, exams in higher education institutions, including professional and technical institutions, may be conducted according to the guidelines issued prior to the closure of the institutions.” said Suresh Mohapatra, chief secretary.
Colleges and technical institutes will reopen on February 7. Short-term education and skills training centers will also reopen on this day, as will hostels associated with the educational institutions and training centers. Everyone is happy with the decision to reopen the school.
Pritish Acharya, educator, said: “Given the covid situation, the state government has made a good decision for the reopening of the school. This is the time for the final exam and the start of a new session. It will be useful for students”
“We will strictly follow the guidelines of the state government in school buildings. After about two years, the students will take physical classes. Student safety is our top priority,” Sai International School Director Nilakantha Panigrahi . said

The schools and colleges have also been mandated to run bridge and short-term courses to make up for student loss of study over the past two years. Orissa’s Supreme Court has ordered the state government to rule on reopening schools within two months on Wednesday.
