Rajesh Dharmani of Congress raised the issue and alleged that the university was charging excessive fees to students under the management quota
A committee would be constituted to look into allegations of ‘irregularities’ in fee recovery by Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College in Solan, Himachal Pradesh Education Minister announced in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. The issue was raised by Congress’ Rajesh Dharmani, who alleged that the university was charging excessive fees from students falling under the management quota. He also demanded that the state quota for private university seats, which have been reduced, be increased to 50 percent.
If a student objects to being charged an excessive fee, he is denied admission or threatened with rejection, Dharmani said.
Responding to Dharmani, Education Minister Rohit Thakur said a committee headed by the Education Minister would look into the allegations of irregularities in the college’s recovery of fees.
