New Delhi, April 22 (PTI) Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan asked NCERT on Tuesday to record audiovisual modules on road safety for age and classes suitable courses for students from class 1 to 12, to raise students on traffic rules.
Pradhan, who is approaching an event here, further said that modules should be introduced as an electief topic in this academic year (2025-26).
“Road safety can not be an optional subject … I instruct the Ministry of Education and NCERT to prepare audiovisual modules on road safety for age and classes suitable for students from class 1 to 12,” he said. According to the minister, around 25 crore students study at schools in India.
During the event, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that India will agree 5 Lakh -accidents, which causes 1.8 Lakh -Sterfaren and injury to 3 Lakh people annually. The minister announced his concern that 10,000 deaths from children are under the age of 18. Gadkari further said that the government has decided a grant of £25,000 for those who will help victims of accidents.
“We have made a decision that every third person who will help the victim of the accident, we give him a granting of £25,000. If a victim of an accident is admitted to a hospital, we will also provide financial support from UitTo £1.5 Lakh for a maximum period of 7 days from the date of the accident, “he said.
Pradhan also suggested taking courses on the awareness of energy saving at schools.
Gadkari said that the government has introduced various new rules, such as mandatory wearing of safety belts, and these habits must be taught early in childhood. “I would ask students to advise their parents to use mobile phones while driving and encourage responsible behavior on roads,” he said.
Gadkari suggested that school infrastructure, such as access and exit points, should also be made safer, with lifts for children and the elderly.
