President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) campus in Maharashtra Nagpur on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Dharmendra Pradhan were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the president said: “Educational institutions are not just places of learning; it’s the place that polishes the inner and sometimes hidden talents in each of us.” The president added that the curriculum gives us an opportunity to look within ourselves for purpose and ambition to fulfill our dreams.
The president said: “We live in an era where innovation and entrepreneurship are valued and encouraged. Both innovation and entrepreneurship have the ability to not only facilitate our lives through technology, but can also provide employment to many people.” He expressed his confidence that the ecosystem at IIM, Nagpur, would foster the mindset among the students to create jobs, rather than job seekers.
Furthermore, the President was pleased to note that IIM, Nagpur, through its Center for Entrepreneurship, has established the IIM Nagpur Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (InFED). He said it is a matter of immense pride that InFED has successfully enabled female entrepreneurs to graduate from the Women Start-up program and six of them have even launched their businesses.
The president said: “Our traditions have always emphasized sharing, especially in the field of knowledge. Therefore, it is our duty to share the knowledge we have gathered.” He expressed the hope that, just as IIM Ahmedabad has provided mentorship to IIM, Nagpur, our country’s leading professional schools, technical, management or humanities mentorship would offer to comparable institutions.
Pradhan said on the occasion that knowledge is a medium for empowerment and Lok Kalyan. He went on to say that the world is looking to India with great hope.
