Chandigarh: The chief minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, on Saturday flagged off the first batch of 36 school principals to visit Singapore for professional training. The school leaders will participate in a Professional Teacher Training seminar in Singapore from 6 to 10 February.
The Aam Aadmi party had given people a “guarantee” before last year’s parliamentary elections that the education system in the state will be completely transformed, Mann said.
“Today, the first group of 36 school principals will go to Singapore to participate in a five-day training camp. At the Principals Academy in Singapore, they will learn the latest techniques in the education sector,” the prime minister told reporters.
The first batch will return on February 11 and they will share their experiences with their colleagues, he said.
Mann said that the way the Delhi government has been transformed by Arvind Kejriwal’s dispensation, Punjab will witness the same process of transformation.
“We have talented teachers. But it was necessary to update them (on the latest teaching techniques), the process for which has started today,” said the prime minister, adding that health and education sectors have been the priority of his government from day one. “We also send teachers to Finland. We send teachers to places where new and latest ways of teaching are available to learn. We will also make an expenditure for education in the upcoming state budget,” he said.
