Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has said all state schools named on the basis of caste and fraternity will be renamed.
Bains issued a statement here on Thursday saying: “Several cases have been brought to attention regarding the names of many government schools in the state being associated with a caste, making them feel uncivilized in the current era while at the same time caste segregation. promote in society.” He said all students received equal education on the basis of equality in Punjab’s government schools where the names of the government schools could not be associated with class or caste.
The education minister said that Punjab is the land of gurus, saints and great prophets who have taught mankind to stay away from casteism and all kinds of discrimination.

“In the current era, these names have a profound effect on the tender minds of the students and sometimes many parents also refrain from enrolling their children in government schools because of these names,” he said.
A report has been requested from all district education officials and the Department of Elementary Education on the schools of different caste names running in their jurisdiction.
