Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata has been awarded an honorary DLitt by Maharashtra’s second state cluster university, HSNC University, in recognition of his unparalleled contribution to society. Maharashtra Governor and University Chancellor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the degree to Tata at a special university convocation ceremony held on Saturday.
The University believes that Ratan Tata reflects the philosophy of development, education and upliftment of all, which also resonates with the vision of HSNC University, Mumbai and as a token of appreciation for his unparalleled contribution to society, the University awarded him its first-ever honorary doctorate.
“Ratan Tata is not just an industrial or corporate icon, he is a wonderful human being who cherishes values of courtesy, humanity and ethics. honorary doctorate from HSNC University, Tata has honored each and every one of us,” Koshyari said in his convocation address.
In his acceptance speech, Ratan Tata said: “This university was established with the aim of creating young people with the ability to lead our country in the future to come, with honesty, purpose and responsibility. I am grateful to receive the honorary doctorate from the university, it means so much to me”.
