CAT 2024 Registration: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, the premier institute this year, is closing the registration window for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 for admissions to 21 IIMs and other MBA colleges across the country on September 13 till 5 pm. As per the notification issued by IIM Calcutta, eligible candidates can fill the online CAT 2024 application form through the official CAT 2024 website at iimcat.ac.in.
Aspiring candidates should note that IIM Calcutta will conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 in three sessions on November 24. The duration of the test is 120 minutes.
Candidates must provide and maintain a valid and unique email address and mobile phone number during the selection process.
CAT 2024: Admission Criteria
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for candidates from SC, ST or PWD categories) are eligible to apply for CAT 2024.
Applicants should note that merely meeting the minimum admission criteria does not automatically mean they will be considered for selection by IIMs.
CAT 2024: Application fee
Applicants belonging to the general category must pay ₹2,500 to fill the CAT form 2024 while the reserved category and persons with disabilities (PWD) applicants will be charged a fee of ₹1,250 online.
CAT 2024: Reservation
As per the statutory requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer (NC-OBC), up to 10% for candidates from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and 5% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
CAT 2024: Step-by-step guide to registration
- Visit the official website of CAT 2024 at iimcat.ac.in
- Click on “new registration”
- Enter your name, email address, nationality, date of birth and telephone number
- Enter the CAPTCHA code and use the OTP you received to confirm your registration
- Fill out your form and login with the CAT ID sent to your registered email address
- Fill in your academic and personal details
- Please attach a scanned copy of your signature and a recent passport photo
- Select your best test cities, courses and IIMs
- Pay the CAT application fee via internet banking or credit/debit card
CAT 2024: Score validity period
The CAT 2024 score is only valid until December 31, 2025
CAT 2024: Test cities
CAT 2024 will be held in around 170 cities. Candidates will be given the option to choose from five preferred cities. CAT Centre will try its best to ensure that a candidate gets one of the preferred options.
CAT 2024: Exam Pattern
The duration of the CAT 2024 exam is 120 minutes. The test consists of the following three sections:
Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Section III: Quantitative ability
Candidates will have exactly 40 minutes to answer questions in each section and will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section. A mock exam to understand the format of the test is available on the CAT website.
Every year, the CAT exam is conducted to enroll candidates for the postgraduate and doctoral programs offered by IIMs. For management courses offered by non-IIMs, CAT results are also needed.
