The headmistress of a secondary school in Odisha’s Ganjam district has been suspended after a video of some students dancing to a song by the Telugu blockbuster ‘Pushpa’ in a classroom went viral on social media, an official said. Several grade 10 students gathered in the smart classroom of Baramundali High School in the Sheragada block. The teachers had given some tips for the High School Certificate exam, after which they left without locking the room.
Some students who were in the room allegedly linked the TV to their cell phone, according to the district official. Two 14 and 24 second dance videos recently went viral on social media platforms and you could see them dancing to the tunes of ‘Srivalli’, a popular song by the Allu Arjun starrer.
The music played on the LED television, which was installed in the classroom to teach the students as part of the school transformation schedule. Block development official Bhaskar Lenka claimed that headmistress Sujata Padhy had been issued a reminder, but she did not answer satisfactorily. Padhy has been suspended from Wednesday for dereliction of duty, district education officer Binita Senapati said. The official added that an investigation was underway and action would be taken against additional teachers for dereliction of duty.
