IAS officer Ansar Shaikh, who hails from Jalna village in Maharashtra, has become the youngest IAS officer in India. Ansar, son of a racing driver, Anas Sheikh had a hard time growing up, but despite all odds, he passed the UPSC exam with flying colors.
During his childhood years, Ansar Shaikh’s family asked him to leave school due to their poor economic situation. Once his father even reached Ansar’s schools to get his out of school. But there his teacher convinced his father not to. She explained to his father that Ansar is a good student and should be given the opportunity to further his studies. However, due to financial problems, his brother dropped out of his studies in 7th grade and started working in the garage. In his 12th board exam, Ansar then achieved 91 percent.
Ansar Shaikh later graduated in political science from Ferguson College, Pune. During his graduation, he achieved 73 percent. To make ends meet, he also took odd jobs and worked about 12 hours a day for three consecutive years in preparation for the UPSC exam.
After college, he took up coaching for a year to prepare for UPSC. Given his financial situation, the coaching academy waived part of his fee.

Despite so many difficulties, Ansar Shaikh was very clear about his goal. He took 361st place in his very first attempt at the UPSC exam in the year 2015. At that time, his age was only 21 years old. He is the youngest IAS officer in the country. So far no one has been able to break this record of his.
