The Education Department of the Tamil Nadu School will provide counseling on October 20 to the students who are yet to participate in higher education courses, including those who failed class 12 exams. The counseling will be held statewide in all district collectors.
The TN Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), National Health Mission (NHM), and the State Higher Education Department are part of the School Education Department and the District Administration’s initiative.
The aim of the program is to identify students who have yet to participate in a higher education course, skills development courses or courses of their choice. The department has identified the reasons why several students are not yet entering higher education, including poverty at home, in some cases students who have not passed grade 12, lack of interest for students to participate in higher education or development programs. skills, and the lack of awareness on alternative courses.
Sources in the Tamil Nadu School Education Department told IANS that the district collectors would coordinate the program and arrange funds through CSR initiatives.
The TNSDC will identify the students who failed the qualifying exams and provide them with skills-enhancing programs, while the higher education department will assist students to be admitted locally in higher education institutions. The NHM advisors would provide them with the necessary guidance to equip them for higher education.
According to the officials, the department has identified 2,711 students who have yet to participate in higher education or skills development courses. However, at a meeting held last month by the officials of the education department, it was found that 8,249 students have not yet entered higher education, but within a few days 1531 students joined higher education courses, while 6,718 chose not to. courses in higher education.
Of these 6,718, the school education department tracked down 2,711 students, while the remaining 4,007 were untraceable. The state government has also announced the opening of school counseling centers at every school in the state.
