All educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh are closed today, July 5, according to reports. The ABVP Telangana has required the state government to fill the vacant posts of Mandal Education Officer (MEO) and District Educational Officer (DEO). They further urged the state government to release the official recruitment notice soon.
The student body has also demanded quality meals in government schools and hostels, as well as action against the business education institutions operating without a license.
ABVP called for action against the exploitation of parents and students in the name of donations, cultural activities, fees and textbooks. According to ABVP Telangana leaders, both government and private schools are not functioning for the welfare or benefit of students and their parents.
Earlier, the student organization had already called for a ‘Telangana School Bandh’ on the same issue. The ‘Telangana School Bandh’ then affected only the private schools while the government schools remained open. The ABVP school bandh was organized to draw attention to the persistent problems in the schools of Telangana.
Meanwhile, on June 23 in Kerala, ABVP had also announced a statewide education strike in protest against a police lathi charge during an ABVP march on June 16.
