The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently begun recruiting all non-teaching staff in approximately 45 central universities. The recruitment is for 48 posts including Hindi Translator and Driver.
In this regard, a message has been sent to all universities stating that the selection will be made by the composition of the selection committees and departmental promotion committees. The notice states that the recruitment process must be completed within six months. The announcement was made by UGC President, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, on Thursday, September 28.
In a tweet, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said UGC met with the vice chancellors of 45 central universities to review the recruitment status of non-teaching staff. “Our goal is to fill all non-teaching vacancies as quickly as possible. There are intensified efforts by all central universities to achieve the goal,” he tweeted.

The announcement stated that the appointment for various positions by the Appointing Authority will be done in the following ways, including direct recruitment, promotion, transfer/admission and permanent appointment.
In order to complete the recruitment process in a timely manner, the UGC has asked the universities to complete the recruitment process in the next six months.
“The university can ensure that the entire recruitment process, including and from advertising, taking a written exam or conducting the interview, can be completed within six months. Provided that, if in the opinion of the Vice-Chancellor the circumstances so warrant, he/she may extend the deadline for the recruitment process for a period of up to six months.”
