The UGC chief believes that CUET provides a unified platform and equitable opportunities for candidates across the country, especially those from the Northeast, rural and other remote locations, and helps improve relations with the universities
The Chief of University Grant Commission (UGC), M Jagadesh Kumar, has urged all central universities to use CUET-PG for admission in the 2023-24 academic batch. Until now, central universities had the option of using CUET for admission to postgraduate courses.
The UGC chief believes that CUET provides a unified platform and equitable opportunity for candidates across the country, especially those from the Northeast, rural areas and other remote locations, and helps improve relations with the universities. Therefore, CUET-PG can enable candidates to enter numerous central and participating universities with just one exam, for a wide audience. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is charged with the responsibility of conducting the CUET-UG/PG.
“As you know, CUET provides a common platform and equal opportunity for candidates across the country, especially those from Northeast, rural and other remote areas, and helps to establish better connections with the universities. With a single exam, the candidates can cover a wide range and be part of the admission process to various central and participating universities,” Kumar told PTI.
“The National Testing Agency (NTA) is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the CUET-UG and PG. All central universities should join CUET-PG just as they have done for CUET-UG, it will increase the chances for students across India to join top universities in India. Therefore, I urge all central universities to use CUET-PG scores for admission into the PG programs,” he added.
The official timetable states that the CUET PG will take place from June 1 through June 10 for the academic year 2023–2024. According to previous information from Kumar, the results will be released in the first week of July. The registration and application process for CUET PG 2023 will start in mid-March 2023. “Great opportunity for students to try and gain admission into multiple universities in postgraduate programs using the CUET-PG score,” the UGC President tweeted on December 28 . .
Delhi University has said that it will use CUET PG for admission into all programs in all categories from the upcoming academic year. The decision was made public by the university at its December 8 board meeting. Instead of DUET, the CUET PG score is now used to evaluate applicants.
