Uttarakhand Sublicate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) chairman GS Martolia announced that the examination for technical posts in the Ministry of Agriculture, originally scheduled for October 12, has been postponed. He stated that no admit cards have been issued for the exam yet and that the exam will no longer take place on the scheduled date. About 600 candidates were expected for this recruitment exam, which had to fill 20 to 25 vacancies.
'Recommended to CBI for investigation into fraud case'
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami went to X and said the decision was taken on the basis of the inquiry committee report. “The Uttarakhand Sublicate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has canceled the Graduate Level Recruitment Examination held on September 21 in the interest of the students and has taken an important decision. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the report of the inquiry committee so that the sanctity, transparency and reliability of examinations in the state are maintained,” Dhami said.
He added, “This reconducted exam will not affect the schedule of other exams. Ensuring fair opportunity for every student in Uttarakhand and a reliable exam system is our priority. We have recommended the CBI for the probe into the fraud case; our government will not allow the future of the students and the confidence of the parents to be tampered with.”
The UKSSSC announced the cancellation of a graduate-level recruitment exam after allegations surfaced that the question paper had been leaked, officials said.
According to a report by PTI, UKSSC chairman GS Martolia said, “The graduate level examination held on September 21 for recruitment to various government departments in the state has been cancelled.”
The examination will take place within three months, they said, and the date will be announced soon.
During the exam, three pages of the question paper reportedly leaked from a center in Haridwar, leading to widespread uproar across the state.
More than one lakh candidates had appeared in the exam for 416 vacancies. In response to the alleged leak, job seekers under the banner of the Uttarakhand Unemployed Union launched a massive protest, prompting the state government to recommend a CBI probe into the incident.
Khalid Malik, the prime suspect arrested in connection with the graduate level exam paper leak case, revealed during interrogation that he had hidden his mobile phone at the exam center a day before the test. On the day of the exam, he reportedly used the phone to take photos of three pages of the question paper while he was in the washroom and then sent the images to his sister.
Earlier, the exam scheduled on October 5 for 45 posts, including Cooperative Inspector Class II and Assistant Development Officer (Cooperative), was also postponed. The committee explained that the decision was made in response to requests from candidates and to provide additional time to improve exam preparation.
