Twelve inmates housed here in the central prison have passed the annual exam of the 10th and 12th UP council of the class, a police official said Sunday. Senior Superintendent VK Singh told PTI: “In class 10, three inmates have achieved first division rank while six inmates have second division rank. By the way, in class 12, all three inmates got second class.” Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) released the results for the 10th and 12th UP board exams on Saturday.
In class 10, inmate Jitendra scored 64.83 percent while Arjun and Sheelesh scored 63.16 and 62.83 percent respectively. In class 12, Shishpal Singh, Hari Singh and Jitendra achieved second class, Singh said. “It is a moment of happiness for us and the inmates, because with their determination they passed the exam behind bars. This will also motivate other detainees. And if they get out of prison, they will achieve their goal,” he said.
“In the prison, we have a library where the inmates can study and those who need help in studying get help from inmates who are postgraduates,” said Singh, adding that some other inmates here are also enrolled in various courses of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Rajarshi Tandon Open University.
In total, 85.33 percent of the 22,37,578 students who appeared for the UP Inter exam this time passed. While for high school, a total of 88.18 percent passed, of the 25,20,634 students who took the basic exam.
