Medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh will have an organ donation facility by the end of next year, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Saturday.
The Health Minister, who was here to attend an organ donation program organized on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on Sunday, said the medical colleges would have a facility to retrieve or transplant organs whenever needed. are donated by a donor.
“Financial assistance would also be provided to improve this facility in the medical colleges,” he told mediapersons here.
Mandaviya earlier led around 8,000 people in taking a pledge for organ donation at the GIC grounds here.
“Within the organ donation program, there were more than 8,000 people who pledged to donate their organs and also registered in the National Organ Donation Register,” he said.
The Union Health Minister, who also inaugurated a super specialty wing at Sarojini Naidu Medical College (SNMC), said people from Agra and nearby districts would benefit from it.
“It will help them get treatment in Agra,” he added.
Highlighting the benefits of the organ donation programme, Health and Family Welfare Minister SP Singh Baghel said it is important to donate organs to save people’s lives.
Baghel added that awareness about this should be spread.
The locals of Agra attended the organ donation program in large numbers. A local resident posted the certificate of the program on his social media account to raise awareness among others about organ donation.
The Health Ministry will on Sunday introduce the ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign – to ensure optimal delivery of healthcare programs to every intended beneficiary, including those in the last mile – during the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ starting on the Prime Minister’s birthday .
The campaign ends on October 2. The campaign has three components: Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Melas at Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Ayushman Sabhas in every village and panchayat.
