The Unaided Private Schools Association (UPSA), Uttar Pradesh, has protested the closure of schools and demanded permission from the state government to increase school fees. Administrations from several private schools such as St Joseph’s School, La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow Public Collegiate and Iram Educational Group held a press conference on Wednesday where they put forward their demands.
The schools have asked the state government to reopen for two years schools that are reeling under the impact of Covid-19. The reopening is requested to take place with immediate effect. Schools in UP have been closed since December 31, 2021 due to Omicron.

While several letters and demonstrations are in the works, there is also a deterrent in the interaction between the private school associations and the state government. The association says the state government would have to sacrifice private schools’ cooperation in upcoming elections and other government-run programs if schools are not reopened.
“Schools should be reopened with immediate effect as online classes simply cannot replace classroom teaching. The government can, if necessary, call students for any program, as it wishes, ignoring the coronavirus protocols but not allowing the reopening of schools,” UPSA president Anil Agarwal said at the press conference, as reported by a leading executive. newspaper. The association has said efforts to increase the vote rate in the state could be seriously jeopardized if the government does not allow schools to reopen from Feb. 7.
Mala Mehra, UPSA secretary said they will only comply with the state government’s plan to increase the vote rate if the decision to close schools is revoked with immediate effect and school gates reopen from February 7.
