Amid dwindling covid-19 cases, the government of Uttar Pradesh has now decided to reopen pre-kindergarten schools from Monday 14 February to 12. The government has asked authorities to abide by COVID-19 protocols in reopening of the schools. Meanwhile, the government has eased more Covid restrictions.
According to the government’s message, “Schools will reopen for Nursery classes to 8 from Feb. 14 with strict adherence to COVID protocols until further orders.”

Previous schools for grades 9 to 12 and all degree colleges had resumed in Uttar Pradesh from February 7. Now, with the new announcement, schools for all classes have resumed for physical classes.
Furthermore, the state government has also allowed the reopening of gyms, swimming pools, restaurants and offices. They are allowed to function as before and keep all COVID-19 guidelines in place, under an official order, Times Now reports.

This comes at a time when Uttar Pradesh is undergoing parliamentary elections for the year 2022. The first stage of the election is already over for 58 assembly constituencies in 11 districts.
Given the continued low rate of COVID-19 infections in some states, high immunization rates among teachers and the rollout of teen vaccination, many states are considering reopening classes this month.
