To ensure 100 percent of enrollment in Uttar Pradesh’s primary and secondary schools, Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ from Shravasti district on Monday. This will be a state government effort to shape the future of primary education and the holistic development of primary schools, according to an official press release published here. The prime minister has instructed officials to prioritize districts with low literacy rates and equip primary schools in the state with better facilities, it said.
The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ is launched from Shravasti district, which according to the press release has the lowest literacy rate in the state, followed by Bahraich, Balrampur, Badaun and Rampur. Government schools must achieve all the goals of “Operation Kayakalp,” which aims to give schools a facelift, Adityanath said.
He told officials that not only will public representatives be associated with the “School Chalo Abhiyan,” but MLAs will also be required to adopt a school each, according to the release. In addition, officials should also adopt schools for their holistic development, the prime minister said. Adityanath has also stipulated that all government schools must provide basic facilities such as toilets, drinking water, furniture and smart lessons to students.
Department officials should campaign to partner with alumni (from government schools) and private companies to transform state schools, he said. Directions have also been given to the primary education department to prepare for the abhiyan and ensure the deployment of teachers in all state schools, Adityanath said. Students will be provided with uniforms and shoes and socks under the campaign, the release said.
