The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has announced that for the Class 12 or Uccha Madhyamik 2023 exams, instead of separate questions for Part A and Part B, there will be only one integrated questionnaire. Therefore, at the end of the study, both parts do not need to be attached to each other, as was done before.
The board has announced that all objective and subjective questions will be included in one questionnaire. The WBCHSE has said the previous questionnaires were too complicated. But this time the questionnaires will be simpler. A separate notebook was previously available for writing the answers to the questions in part A of the question sheet. Part B had short answer questions and the answers had to be given in a separate questionnaire. Then the two answer sheets had to be handed in together.

The chairman of the WB Higher Secondary Education Council, Chiranjeev Bhattacharya, announced the change in question format. “Books will no longer be released separately from this time. There will be MCQ and SAQ questions along with the main questions. The answer must be given in a specific place in the ledger. Students should write answers according to the sequence number of the questions,” said Bhattacharya.
According to WBCHSE, priority has been given to the opinions and suggestions of students, teachers and examiners in this decision. In the notice, upper secondary students and teachers have been informed that some parts of the question form and answer sheet have been changed.

Some of the teachers have claimed that the distribution of grades in the upper secondary question paper will be the same as in 2020 or earlier, but there is some confusion regarding the distribution of grades in the papers. The teachers also fear that the change in the exam pattern will increase the chance of cheating during the exam. There used to be four types of questionnaires, and the candidates would not know which set of questions the student has next to him/her. Now they can cheat more easily, but the WBCHSE believes the students will benefit from the new pattern.
