It is a technical university owned by the state government.
Experts believe that this college is the perfect alternative if you cannot crack institutions like IIT or NIT.
Students often start preparing for IIT JEE exams from class 10 so that they can get good marks and get admission into IITs and NITs. IIT admits candidates based on their scores in JEE Advance while NIT colleges also accept the JEE Mains marks. Several other engineering colleges also accept the JEE entrance test marks. In such situations, people often feel discouraged if they do not get good marks in JEE exams. Many students are unaware of the existence of other colleges, which conduct their entrance exams and admit students on the basis of the merit list prepared from them. There are many state government colleges that follow this protocol. One of them is Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai.
VJTI is a state government owned technical college. It was first established in 1887 during British rule. It has been happening in Mumbai for a long time. College council members and experts also believe that this college is the perfect alternative if you cannot crack institutions like IIT or NIT. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), this college is ranked 71st in the year 2020, 82nd in 2021 and 119th in 2022.
Before deciding on an institution, students usually check the placement details of the university before looking at the syllabus. According to a TOI report, the students of the passed out batch of 2022 have been given high-payment packages during their campus placement. Google India offered a package of Rs 60.1 lakh to BTech Computer Science students of this institute. According to another report, more than 30 students of the institute received a package of around Rs 25 lakh from this institute.
In 2021, the maximum package in the institute was Rs 58 lakh. It is also to be noted that maximum placements have been offered in IT and Computer Science sectors.
If VJTI is compared with IIT or NIT colleges, the level of education does vary. In the latter countries, the facilities for education, research and teachers are of a higher level and they have higher educational qualifications. However, this state government school has never been a wasted option for the students of Maharashtra. Some students even choose this university over other institutions to stay in their hometown.
