Prof Prasad Krishna stated that Agin got admission into BTech Computer Science Engineering at NIT Calicut in 2018, Prof Prasad Krishna said, “Even after four years of study at NIT, he could not successfully complete his freshman courses. The institute gave him three more chances to complete the clearing the backlog of the first year.” The professor claimed that Agin was unable to pass 10 courses from the first and second year of the program by the end of his four-year degree in June 2022. The third and fourth year courses also had to be cleared, the Tribune reported as follows:
Prof Prasad Krishna explained that according to the rules and regulations, the institute had no choice but to discontinue Agin’s BTech studies in NIT Calicut. “Agin has submitted a request to his departments to proceed, but a committee found him ineligible and filed the request under academic regulations,” he said.
The NIT director also shared details of his meeting with the student. He said that Agin was informed that he had already been given every opportunity, after which he expressed his interest in taking the BDesign course. “I met his father and persuaded him to let him follow his passion. I didn’t know he had taken the course at LPU in Punjab. It was yesterday that I got to know it,” added Prof Prasad Krishna.
In the note, Agin accused the NIT director of “emotional manipulation”. He wrote: “I blame Prof Prasad Krishna for emotionally manipulating me into quitting NITC. I regret my decision so much, I am a burden to everyone. I’m sorry, but this is it.” In another note, the student urged the university to refund his full tuition, and in the third, he told his family’s financial condition.
