After Apple and Samsung, Google also announced its plan to produce Pixel smartphones in India, with the latest model set to be rolled out next year. Reacting to this news, industrialist Anand Mahindra shared an interesting story about his Indian-made iPhone. Through X (formerly Twitter), the business magnate expressed his pride and excitement about owning a smartphone manufactured in our country. He also talked about the reaction of a seller in the United States when he told him his iPhone 15 was made in India.
It all started with a post on X by a page called Indian Tech and Infra. “Google will start manufacturing Pixel smartphones in India, starting with the latest model to be launched in 2024,” the post’s caption reads. Mr Mahindra re-shared this post along with his story.
“I was recently at a Verizon store in the US to buy a local SIM card and proudly told the salesperson that my iPhone 15 was made in India. It was particularly nice to see his raised eyebrows!” he wrote and added, “I also have a Google Pixel. I will switch to the Indian made version when it comes out. So I can tell them my Pixel is also made in India… But it probably will be won.” There will be no raised eyebrows at that time because by then India will be recognized globally as a manufacturing powerhouse.”
